The founding of the Joint Department with SAS at the Faculty of Computer Science in 2018 is only a natural continuation of the collaborative relationship that SAS and the Faculty have enjoyed since 2014. The new department is aimed at improving the quality of specialist training in data analysis. In the programme, students develop necessary practical skills, learn about the effectiveness of business intelligence, and explore the specific ways in which analytical algorithms can be applied to real-world problems.

Course training agenda is ready. The following themes of the next lectures and workshops as part of the "Customer analytics" section: "Model building and data visualization" and "Financial rationale for projects based on data analysis." The most successful students will get certificates and may be offered the opportunity to become interns.
The course contains two modules.
The first one is for 3rd–4th year students of the Faculty of Computer Science majoring in "Applied Mathematics and Computer Science" who chose the course voluntarily. The students will study the following sections:
Purpose of data analysis in retail networks;
Risk assessment basics;
Participants of the course will study the specifics of data analysis and analytic model building for each module section. They will get familiarized with the following tools: SAS BASE, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, and SAS Forecast Server.
The second module is a team project that is only designed for 3rd year students. Students will be divided into groups of 2–3 students, and each group will be given a practical task. This module will enable the students to get practical experience in analyzing data as well as developing and constructing analytical models based on real-world data.
As a result, students will get an idea of real-world business objectives. Due to the knowledge acquired from the course along with SAS products experience, students will become professionals in high demand on the job market who are optimally prepared for their work. The most successful students will get certificates and may be offered the opportunity to become interns.
