About the Laboratory

ATA_Lab_Presentation.pptx

International Laboratory of Algebraic Topology and its Applications (ATA) is created at the Faculty of Computer Sciences of HSE in January 2020. ATA-Lab continues and extends the scientific activity of Laboratory of Applied Geometry and Topology which existed in 2019, as a substructure of Big Data and Information Retrieval School.

Members of ATA Laboratory conduct research in areas adjacent to algebraic topology. One of the research directions, toric topology, lies on the intersection of the topological group action, combinatorics, homological algebra and differential geometry. Another research direction is the application of geometrical methods to data analysis, as well as the development of new methods based on topology and theoretical informatics.

The goal of the Laboratory is to develop methods of algebraic topology keeping in mind their applications in theoretical mathematics as well as the analysis of high-dimensional data, including topological analysis of neurobiological data.
