About the Faculty

The new faculty trains developers and researchers. The programme has been created based on the experience of leading American and European universities, such as Stanford University (U.S.) and EPFL (Switzerland). Also taken into consideration when creating the faculty was the School of Data Analysis, which is one of the strongest postgraduate schools in the field of computer science in Russia. The wide range of elective courses will allow each student to create his or her own educational path. In the faculty, learning is based on practice and projects.


13th International Conference on Concept Lattices and Their Applications

On July 18-22 the 13th International Conference on Concept Lattices and Their Applications was held at HSE. The conference has been organized since 2002. This year it was held in Russia for the first time. The event was organized by the International Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Structural Analysis and the  School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence of HSE Faculty of Computer Science.

HSE Students Get Gold, Silver and Bronze in International Mathematical Competition

HSE’s team has won four gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the International Mathematical Competition for University Students (IMС 2016), the most representative mathematics contest for university students. The team included students from the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Mathematics.

HSE and Yandex Hold Second Summer School in Machine Learning in High Energy Physics

On June 20-27, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science teamed up with the Yandex School of Data Analysis to carry out the Second International Summer School in Machine Learning in High Energy Physics. This year’s Summer School took place in Lund, Sweden, and saw the participation of 60 students and researchers from Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia, the U.S., Sweden, Switzerland, and more. Of these students, five came from the Higher School of Economics.

On June 9-13, the international conference ‘Computer Science Symposium in Russia 2016’ was held in St. Petersburg as part of the Special Semester on Computational and Proof Complexity.

HSE Students Won AccorHotels Hackathon

Students of HSE Faculty of Computer Science won the first Russian Hackathon by AccorHotels and got the opportunity to finalize their project together with experts from the international accelerator NUMA Moscow and then present it to the company’s higher management in Paris.
