Elsevier Publishing Company, a leading provider of scientific information, organized the International Scopus Awards ceremony and one of the winners was HSE staff member Sergey Obiedkov.
Elsevier, a global leader in science information, actively promotes science development and supports scientists. For years the company management has given awards to outstanding researchers, and young scientists around the world.
The International Scopus Award is an objective indicator of scientists’ achievements. The number of scientific papers and citation in international journals show each author’s objective contribution to science in their own country and avoids subjective evaluations.
The number of published papers is indexed by the database SCOPUS, the world’s largest multidiscipline reference base, that includes more than 19,000 names of scientific, technical, and medicine journals from 5000 world publishing houses, including Russian editions.
The Scopus Award Russia 2013 was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The winners were chosen according to the summation of activities in the subject category, which includes publication activity (the scientist’s number of papers in SCOPUS since 1996), citation index (1996-2012, according to SCOPUS), h-index (1996-2012), and national scientific activity. Young scientists were also chosen according to their publication activity (the number of papers in SCOPUS, 2007-2012), citation index since 2007, h-index since 2007, and national scientific activity.
The award has gained recognition as an objective indicator of the contribution that scientists are making to develop Russian science on a global level.
Sergey Obiedkov, HSE staff member, was one of six winners in 2013. He was given the award for his outstanding contribution to the development of computer sciencein Russia and internationally.
We heartily congratulate Sergey Obiedkov on winning the award and wish him continued success in his career!
