Mission of the school
Toric topology is a new rapidly developing field of mathematics, which lies at the crossroads of topology, combinatorics, theory of polytopes, combinatorial commutative algebra, algebraic and symplectic geometry and is characterized by deep interconnections of the ideas and methods arising in these areas. In toric topology we study compact torus actions on smooth manifolds and cellular spaces, whose orbit spaces carry rich combinatorial structures. The relations between toric topology and combinatorics, as well as their applications in topological data analysis will be the main subject of the school.
The school is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (the grant to the Leonhard Euler International Mathematical Institute in Saint Petersburg, agreement no. 075-15-2022-287, the grant to the Steklov International Mathematical Center, agreement no. 075-15-2022-265) and the International Laboratory of Algebraic Topology and Its Applications, Faculty of Computer Science, HSE University.
