Report on the Fifteenth European Space Weather Week, November 5-9, 2018 in Leuven, Belgium

The head of the laboratory, Professor Alexander Shapoval took part in the international conference 15th European Space Weather Week, which was held in Leuven (Belgium) from 5 to 9 November. The conference, which brought together several hundred participants, was devoted to issues of space weather forecasting.
A noticeable share of presentations is associated with the use of machine learning methods for actual forecast tasks. Alexander Borisovich presented the results obtained in the framework of the project RRF 17-11-01052, together with E. Blanter, M. Shnirman (IEPT RAS), J.-L. Le Mouel, V. Courtillot (IPGP, France), A. Savostyanov (HSE). In particular, the professor explained how using the Kuramoto model of coupled oscillators to restore the properties of the meridional flow on the Sun.
