Intelligent data delivery methods in advanced networks 2030

Project relevance

The ongoing industrial revolution Industry 4.0, which is part of the 2030 Networks paradigm, enables widespread automation and inherently supported flexibility of manufacturing facilities.  Technologically, manufacturing companies in Industry 4.0 rely on the concept of the Industrial Internet of Things.  Various devices in a company's premises (sensors and actuators) are able to collect data and perform a predefined set of actions. At the same time, the industrial intelligence that controls the system resides in the cloud or on edge servers.  Advanced wireless connectivity enables mobility of production machines while connecting them to the manufacturing intelligence.  This architecture allows for software-defined plant operations and on-demand reconfiguration of production lines.

Project goal

is to approach future reconfigurable industrial environments to ensure a smooth transition to them.

Project tasks:

Develop an adaptive networking technology

Such technology will work with any underlying protocols, including both wired and wireless, and create and execute services within the network.

Create methods and algorithms to maintain the topology

These will run during the reconfiguration process, including multi-threaded wireless.

Produce methods and algorithms for adaptive packet forwarding.

This is necessary in case of dynamic changes in topology conditions.

Establish structures for transferring intelligence of the network itself

This transfer will be accomplished by dynamically creating and executing complex services within networks.
