Ethical review in the field of AI

Project goal

is to develop principles and standards of evaluation for humanitarian (ethical) expertise required both at the stage of development and at the stage of implementation of artificial intelligence systems in various public spheres.

Examination tasks:

To ensure openness in the activities of corporations engaged in AI development;

To strengthen both state and public control over corporations as one of the effective factors in ensuring their transparency and social responsibility, as well as public accessibility of the results of their innovative activities;

To conduct socio-humanitarian research to identify the main points of conflict and compromise between public opinion and the position of state authorities on the problem of development, introduction and use of AI technologies in social and political practice, as well as for medical purposes;

To identify and justify new risks associated with the possible infringement of human rights and to discover new theoretical and practical solutions in the field of interpersonal communication and ethics.

Risks of application of artificial intelligence systems that require reflection and prevention

  • Risk of uncontrolled, biased and biased decision-making in a situation of full trust in AI systems in socially important spheres

  • Risk of violation of privacy and confidentiality of personal data

  • Risk of increasing uncertainty in the course of development and improvement of AI systems and negative consequences of their widespread use, increasing public dissatisfaction with their use and unpredictability of public reaction to AI errors

  • Risk of increased social and psychological isolation of people, loss of social communication, increased social disunity, as a consequence - increased level of conflict of individuals and increased social tension in general

  • Risk of increased social tension due to the creation of conditions for deepening social differentiation and violation of human rights, for example, the right to equal opportunities and protection of vulnerable groups.
