Internships at Yandex Laboratory
An internship at our laboratory means:
- Constant communication with the academic supervisor from Yandex Research, other researchers, and members of the production departments; work in the scientific and industrial environment.
- A cutting-edge task and the possibility of writing an A* paper in one year.
- Salary and access to high-performance computational resources.
- Publication and annual review bonuses, the opportunity to go to a conference with your article and to become a full-fledged researcher.
Workload
The workload and duration of an internship may vary depending on the situation. A third-year student can expect, for example, one year of 15 or 30 working hours per week (enough to write a term paper). For those completing their fourth year, there is a special programme—the master's degree track.
Write to us and we'll advise you on available options that would suit you personally.
Requirements
A solid technical background (especially in mathematics and algorithms), a desire to create, a basic data science background, and good programming skills are a must. You will not write production code, but you should be able to run and debug experiments on a remote server.
To apply for an internship, you first need to submit an application form. You will then be asked to write a review of an article on a topic that interests you. In the review, you are asked to write a short summary of the article, discuss its strengths and weaknesses, and outline how you would continue the research described in it. Those who do well in the review will be invited to an interview.
