Mini-course by Professor Steve Oudot (INRIA, Ecole Polytechnique)

On September 10 Steve Oudot, Professor at Ecole Polytechnique and Researcher at INRIA, gave a mini-course "Statistics and Learning with topological descriptors".

Course description: In this survey talk I will review some of the recent advancesin Topological Data Analysis to define stable descriptors for data, touse these descriptors for learning tasks, and to do statistics on them.Among other topics, I will address finding suitable metrics, definingand computing means and barycenters, deriving confidence intervals, lawsof large numbers, central limit theorems, and kernel mean embeddings.
