Mini-course "Statistics and Learning with topological descriptors", Prof. Steve Oudot (Ecole Polytechnique, INRIA)

Event ended

On September 10 Steve Oudot  (Ecole Polytechnique, INRIA) will give a mini-course "Statistics and Learning with topological descriptors". In the talk, he will cover different aspects of TDA, including statistics with persistence diagrams and learning with persistence diagrams.

Venue: HSE, Kochnovskiy proezd, 3, room 505.

Time: 16:40 - 20:00.

In this survey talk I will review some of the recent advances in Topological Data Analysis to define stable descriptors for data, to use these descriptors for learning tasks, and to do statistics on them. Among other topics, I will address finding suitable metrics, defining and computing means and barycenters, deriving confidence intervals, laws of large numbers, central limit theorems, and kernel mean embeddings.

Language of instruction -
English. For the pass to the building contact Vlada Kuznetsova (vkuznecova@hse.ru).
