The faculty trains developers and researchers. The programme has been created based on the experience of leading American and European universities, such as Stanford University (U.S.) and EPFL (Switzerland). Also taken into consideration when creating the faculty was the School of Data Analysis, which is one of the strongest postgraduate schools in the field of computer science in Russia. The wide range of elective courses will allow each student to create his or her own educational path. In the faculty, learning is based on practice and projects.

The Academic Committee was founded as part of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) and includes representatives of all faculty departments. The Academic Committee gives approval to the allocation of funds requested by faculty and students for the purpose of supporting:
Applications requesting support for students’ participation in intellectual competitions (e.g., contests, hackatons, etc.) are reviewed by the faculty’s Study Initiative Support Committee.
Faculty members are kindly asked to submit any questions they might have regarding the application process and academic event organization to the Executive Secretary of the Academic Committee, as well as members representing various departments.
Competitions to fund FCS students’ participation in academic events (summer/winter schools, conferences, and seminars) are held throughout the year.

After taking part in academic events, students must submit reports following a standard template, including an article for the Faculty’s news feed, as well as the presentation made at a conference, if it is organized by the Academic Committee.

What are the Maximum Reimbursements for Trips?
The FCS Academic Committee follows the same guidelines as the HSE Academic Fund. The Academic Fund shall support no more than two international trips to academic events per applicant (the second one granted is for applicants receiving third tier academic bonus at the time of their application), no more than one trip to an academic event in Russia, and no more than one trip to a CIS country.
According to the Academic Fund’s regulations on travel grants, the sizes of travel grants are as follows:
Funds allocated for specific trips may be smaller or (in exceptional cases, which must be substantiated) bigger than the specified limits.
