A new grant by Russian Science Foundation
A team of eight researchers led by Dmitry Vetrov won the contest of the Presidential Research Projects Program, conducted by the Russian Science Foundation, in the direction "Conducting research by scientific groups under the leadership of young scientists." The team includes two research fellows and two research assistants of the laboratory. The grant was received in collaboration with the researchers of the Laboratory of Computer Graphics and Multimedia of Moscow State University and Bayesian Methods research group.
Under the terms of the grant, the project "Deep Bayesian Methods in Machine Learning, Scalable Optimization and Computer Vision Problems" will receive funding for three years with the possibility of an extension for one or two years. This will allow, among other things, to purchase new computing resources, which plays a very important role in research on this subject.
The presidential program of research projects was developed by the Russian Science Foundation in early 2017, its main tasks are to support long-term projects of leading scientists and create career trajectories for promising young researchers. The program includes four contests, including a contest to support initiative research of young scientists and a contest of youth scientific groups led by young leaders. The results of the three contests were published recently. In total, more than 5000 projects from 72 regions of Russia participated in these three contests, and about 800 projects were supported. The fourth competition is to be announced next year. More information is available on the website of the Russian Science Foundation.
