S.-T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest
Registration deadline is April, 30.
We invite students from the universities to participate in the international S.-T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest. This contest is organized by the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center at Tsinghua University and the Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences. HSE University Faculty of Computer Science has become one of the venues for hosting this contest in Russia.
The contest is held in two categories: team and individual. The final round of the contest will take place in Beijing (China).
Subjects for the individual category:
— Geometry and Topology;
— Algebra, Number Theory, and Combinatorics;
— Probability and Statistic;
— Applied and Computational Mathematics;
— Analysis and Differential Equations;
— Mathematical Physics.
Participation in multiple subjects (from one to six) is allowed.
The contest is held in English.
In the team category, each participant represents one of the subject areas. The team’s result is determined by the sum of the individual results of its members in their respective subjects.
Students from all universities are invited to participate. The qualifying round of the contest will be held on May 17-18 at the HSE University venue located at Pokrovsky Boulevard 11, Entrance 3, Room R306.
Contest schedule (Moscow time):
May 17:
03:00–05:00 — Analysis and Differential Equations;
05:15–07:15 — Probability and Statistic;
15:30–17:30 — Geometry and Topology.
May 18:
03:00–05:00 — Algebra, Number Theory, and Combinatorics;
05:15–07:15 — Applied and Computational Mathematics;
15:30–17:30 — Mathematical Physics.
Please note the non-standard timing for some of the subjects.
