HSE Faculty of Computer Science and Yandex Discuss Cooperation with Chinese University
Dean of HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science Ivan Arzhantsev, head of the faculty’s Big Data and Information Retrieval School Evgeny Sokolov, and junior researcher at the faculty Gleb Bazhenov took part in the China–Russia Seminar on AI Talent Education and Technology Development in Beijing (PRC). The meeting organised by Yandex was aimed at discussing cooperation between leading Russian universities and China’s Tsinghua University. The university is among the world’s best, ranking first in Asia and 12th in the world in the international Times Higher Education rating.
Decision Making Mini-Course Presented at the Faculty of Computer Science
On 5–13 December, HSE Faculty of Computer Science hosted a mini-course Decision Making by Enes Eryarsoy from Sabanci University (Turkey).
HSE Holds Table Tennis Championship among International Students
Mixed-sex teams representing eight university faculties took part in the HSE Winter Tennis Cup, an interfaculty table tennis championship for international students. The team of the Faculty of Mathematics won the competition. The tournament was organised with the support of the Department of Internationalisation and the Department of Physical Training.
Student Mobility Development: HSE University Delegation Visits Chinese University of Hong Kong
In early November 2023, a delegation from HSE University visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen. HSE University representatives took part in CUHK-Shenzhen 2023 International Partner Day and discussed the existing student exchange agreement with colleagues from China.
'It Is Crucial for HSE University to Strengthen the Positions of Russian Education and Science'
Delegations from Nanjing University and Renmin (People's) University of China have recently made their first visits to HSE University to explore potential areas of cooperation. The Chinese universities have expressed interest in initiating collaborative research projects, educational and academic mobility programmes.
‘My Research Has Evolved into A Broader and More Encompassing Vision’
Seungmin Jin, from South Korea, is researching the field of Explainable AI and planning to defend his PhD on ‘A Visual Analytics System for Explaining and Improving Attention-Based Traffic Forecasting Models’ at HSE University this year. In September, he passed the pre-defence procedure at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence. In his interview for the HSE News Service, he talks about his academic path and plans for the future.

Frank Acquaye is a PhD student atthe Department of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science, National Research University Higher School of Economics. As part of his postgraduate studies, Frank spent several months inthe Noble Research Lab at the University of Washington, USA, where he did research.
HSE Faculty of Computer Science Organises Its First Software Engineering Winter School
From February 14–18, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science organised its first international winter school dedicated to software engineering. The event was supported by JetBrains, Innopolis University, and Schaffhausen Institute of Technology.
