Using AI for intelligent labor market analysis, career guidance and employment forecasting

Abstract

This session will focus on two projects implemented as a part of HSE Strategic Projects that use machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve labor market analytics, particularly in the areas of career guidance and employment forecasting.

The first initiative, called "Navigator of Professions and Skills", serves as an advanced analytics tool to identify essential skills for specific jobs. It also quantifies the monetary value of key skills. This project uses a comprehensive dataset derived from job postings on platforms such as hh.ru, the "Rabota v Rossii" portal, and Avito, to which large language models (LLMs) and other data processing techniques are applied to aggregate jobs and skills and determine key skills premiums.

The second project focuses on the development of a predictive analytics service tailored for graduate employment. This service aims to provide future students with valuable insights into their salary prospects based on individual characteristics, interests, educational background, and potential employers. By applying ML techniques to a robust database of over 20 million records of university graduates from 2020 to 2023, the service provides salary predictions. It also features an easy-to-use text entry module, powered by large-scale language models, that recommends the most appropriate fields of study based on users' interests.
