Abstract: We launch a new research group at the CS Faculty studying various problems connected to Geometry, Graph Theory, Probability and Statistics. This talk introduces objectives of the working group. In particular,  we will present a set of example problems and topics that may serve as a first motivation for our meetings:
- Estimation and computation of barycenters (Frechet means) in metric spaces (such as graphs).
- Understanding the role of geometry (and especially Ricci curvature) for statistical procedures.
- Optimal transport theory and its applications.

We welcome anyone interested. We strongly encourage students to join and participate actively in our meetings: our goal is to foster academic collaboration, research output and involve students in the process.
