Title: Fear induced diffusion instabilities in a predator-prey model with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response

Speaker: Dr. S. Vinoth, Research Faculty, Centre for Nonlinear Systems, Chennai Institute of Technology, Chennai, India

Abstract:  In this work, a diffusion-driven pattern forms instabilities in a predator-prey system as described by the Beddington-DeAngelis functional response with the presence of a fear effect. Conditions for Hopf, turing, and wave instabilities are investigated analytically around the coexisting equilibrium point. Numerical simulation results are presented to show different types of spots, stripes, and their mixture patterns. The effects of different initial conditions are also explored. We can conclude from our study that the reason for the appearance of different spatio-temporal patterns in real-life ecological systems may be due to variations in the fear effect.
