Operations research is a discipline that develops and implements methods for finding optimal solutions. Operations research involves the use of mathematical, quantitative methods to substantiate decisions in all areas of targeted human activity.

In this course, such sections of operations research are studied as linear, nonlinear and dynamic programming, queuing theory, game theory and decision making theory. In the linear programming section, a simplex method is considered with an analysis of the sensitivity of the solution to changes in the parameters of the problem, as well as methods for solving problems of integer linear programming.

The objectives of studying the discipline are mastering the basic methods of solving optimization problems and the acquisition of the skill of modeling practical problems, as well as the construction of deterministic and stochastic models.

To master the discipline, students need to know the exact formulations of the basic concepts related to  the theory of matrices and determinants, systems of linear equations, linear operators, quadratic forms;differential and integral calculus;probability theory and mathematical statistics.
