Internship is a form of organizing educational activities during the development of an educational program in the conditions of students performing certain types of work related to future professional activities and aimed at the formation, consolidation, development of practical skills and competencies in the profile of the relevant educational program.

The implementation of practical training for students for HSE University is provided for in the curriculum module of the OP “Intership”. The procedure for organizing and conducting EPP for HSE University students is regulated by the Regulations on the practical training of students in the main educational programs of higher education - bachelor's, specialist's and master's programs for HSE University.

Types of practices at the FCS:

Educational internship is carried out in junior courses in the departments of the FCS with the aim of consolidating, expanding and deepening the theoretical knowledge gained and acquiring initial practical skills in solving specific problems.

Educational (technological) internship is carried out at enterprises of the IT industry or in structural divisions of the university in order to study software development technologies used in companies - leaders of the IT industry, students acquire knowledge, skills and abilities to work in instrumental environments necessary for professional activities.

Industrial internship is carried out at enterprises of the IT industry or in structural divisions of the university with the aim of gaining experience in projects as part of teams developing software systems, as well as studying methodological, instructive and regulatory materials of enterprises engaged in industrial software development, working out obtained during training skills.

Pre-diploma internship is carried out at the graduation course under the guidance of a supervisor in order to collect material for the completion of the final qualifying work, the acquisition of professional experience by graduates, improvement of competencies, and verification of the readiness of future graduates for independent work.

Actual internships

What is an early internship?

It's an internship completed early, before the standard deadline (July 1, 2026). This option is convenient and useful if you:

- are starting work before July;

- have already found an internship;

- have a summer trip planned;

- are unsure about quickly finding a suitable position this summer (as internships are in high demand during this period, with many applicants);

- want to leave yourself more time to complete all your work;

- or for any other reason, you prefer to complete your internship before other students.

An early internship is completely identical to an internship completed during the standard deadline. The duration, documents, and application process are all the same.

Early internship at HSE University

Step 1. Find an internship location at HSE University. You can do your internship with faculty, in a lab, etc. – the main thing is that the tasks are relevant to your field of study.
Step 2. Once you've selected your internship location, submit an application on the Internship Center website. Link to the application form for early internship. In the first question, select
"Early Summer Internship 2026."
Only after you submit your application will the Internship Center staff know where and when you plan to do your internship and can begin preparing the necessary documents.
Step 3. After receiving your application, Internship Center staff will contact you at the email address you provided and send you a template for an early internship application. Please complete it, sign it, and return it in a reply.
Your academic supervisor's signature is NOT required.

Step 4. Internship

Step 5. At this stage, all legal documents are signed. The internship begins.
Step 6. At the end of the internship, you must complete an Individual Assignment and a Report, and your immediate internship supervisor from the organization will write a review of your work. Templates can be found here. These three documents must be uploaded to Smart LMS under the internship course for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Step 7. At this stage, all documents are verified. Grades will be posted at the beginning of the next academic year by October 1, 2026—including for early students.

Early internship at a third-party company

Stage 1. Choose a company and pass an interview (or other selection stages at the company's discretion). Agree on an internship/employment – we can count any of these forms of activity as practice. The main thing is that the tasks that you will have in the company correspond to the direction of your training.

Stage 2. After you have agreed with the company, you need to submit an application on the website of the Internship Center. Link to the application form here. In the first question, select the option "Early Summer Internship 2026". Only after submitting the application, the staff at the Internship Center will know where and when you plan to complete your internship, and they will be able to start processing the necessary documents.

Stage 3. After receiving your application, the Internship Center staff will write to you at the email address specified in the application and send the template of the Application for early internship. It is required to fill it out, sign and send it in a reply letter. The signature of the academic supervisor is NOT needed.

Stage 4. We will double-check whether HSE University has an existing contract with the company you've selected. Depending on whether or not the contract exists, the subsequent document processing process will vary.
4.1. If there is no contract, we will contact the company and agree on a format for interaction. We typically copy you so we can track the progress of the legal documents. If you don't see any emails, you can email us, and we'll review the current status
of your application—perhaps someone involved in the approval process accidentally excluded you from the copy.
4.2. If a contract already exists with the company, we will prepare annexes to the contract and email them to you. You will need to sign these documents at the company and bring the paper originals to us in office T906, T923. More detailed instructions with explanations will be emailed to you along with the documents.
It's crucial to complete the legal documents correctly, so if you have any questions, please email us for clarification.

Stage 5. At this stage, all legal documents are signed. The internship begins.
Stage 6. At the end of the internship, you must complete an Individual Assignment and a Report, and your immediate internship supervisor from the organization will write a review of your work. How to successfully complete the internship?

To successfully complete the internship, please read the guide and information below:

Completing an internship at HSE University within the standard timeframe

Step 1: Find an internship location at HSE University. You can intern with faculty or in a lab. The key is to ensure the tasks are aligned with your specialization.

Step 2: Submit an application on the Internship Center website. The link to the application form for standard deadlines is here. Only then will Internship Center staff know where and when you plan to intern and begin working on your application.

Important: Although you don't need to prepare any legal documents, you must submit your application at least two weeks before the start of your internship.

Step 3: Within a few days, an Internship Center representative will send you an email to the corporate email address you provided in your application. We typically try to respond the same or next day, but during busy periods, the response time may be slightly longer. This email confirms your application has been accepted.
Step 4: Complete your internship.
Step 5: Upon completion of your internship, you must complete an individual assignment and report, and your immediate supervisor will review your work.

These documents must be uploaded to Smart LMS.

How to name Reporting Document files before uploading to Smart LMS:

After this deadline, uploading your Reporting Documents will be impossible, and we will no longer be able to accept any documents from you, as the internship will be closed. Please plan your time and upload everything on time.

Step 6: At this stage, all documents are verified. Grades will be posted at the beginning of the next academic year, including for early students.

Completing an internship at the company within the standard timeframe

Step 1: Select a company and attend an interview (or other selection stages at the company's discretion). Arrange an internship/job placement – HSE University can count any of these activities as internship time. It's important that the tasks you'll be assigned to the company are relevant to your field of study.
Selecting an organization, interacting with its representatives, attending interviews, etc. are the student's responsibility. However, some companies interested in student interns submit applications to our Internship Center.
We publish them on our website and Telegram channel. If you're unable to find an internship position yourself, you can browse current offers on our resources.
Important: If you're completing an internship (several months) or employed by a company, all internship documents still only indicate the internship dates – two weeks (or four weeks for Data Engineering).

Step 2: Once you've made an appointment with the company, you must submit an application on the Internship Center website. The link to the application form for standard terms is here. Only then will the Internship Center staff know where and when you intend to do your internship and begin working on your application.
Important: You must submit your application one month in advance; please plan ahead. please plan ahead. This is because the company and I will need to prepare the necessary legal documents to authorize your internship. Legal documents often take a long time to finalize, and the approval and signing process must be completed before your internship begins. Therefore, the process must begin well in advance.

Step 3: After submitting your application, you'll need to wait a few days for a response from the Internship Center staff. We typically try to respond on the same day or the following day, but during busy periods, the response time may be slightly longer.
We'll check whether HSE University has a contract with the company you've selected. Depending on whether there is a contract, the document processing process will vary.

Step 4: At this point, all legal documents are signed. It's time for the internship.

Step 5: At the end of your internship, you must complete an Individual Assignment and a Report, and your immediate supervisor will review your work. These documents must be uploaded to Smart LMS.
It is advisable to upload them promptly.
