December 16, 17, 18 MACSPRO'2021 Conference
Employees of the laboratory of international bioinformatics take an active part in 3 days of practical work among scientists, IT industry leaders, businessmen and experts in the MACSPRO2021 conference.
At the conference, the scientific director of the international laboratory of bioinformatics, Professor Alan Herbert, made a report “Flipon genetics: Encoding by Structure rather by Sequence”. In his speech, Alan Herbert showed the genetics of flipons based on coding by structure, not by sequence, which aroused great interest of the conference participants and a lively discussion.
The best report of the Bioinformatics Section according to the version of the Program Committee and the results of the audience vote was the report "Generative models for improving the prediction of secondary structures of DNA" by Nikita Konstantinovsky, research intern at the International Laboratory of Bioinformatics, National Research University Higher School of Economics.
The report was about the use of generative adversarial networks to improve the accuracy of DNA secondary structures prediction. GANs have been used to generate DNA sequences capable of forming G-quadruplexes. The generated data were used to augment existing experimental datasets for quadruplexes and train a more accurate classifier, the purpose of which is to annotate the genome with quadruplexes.
