Interdisciplinary forum "Cardiogenetics and Bioinformatics: Realities of 2022"

On September 2, the second event of the consortium "Genetics of Cardiovascular Diseases" — an interdisciplinary forum "Cardiogenetics and Bioinformatics: Realities of 2022" — was held at the Higher School of Economics, which continued the work of the consortium between the organizations that are part of the consortium. The forum was attended by heads and representatives of scientific centers and institutes from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Arkhangelsk, Tyumen, and Surgut.

The opening speeches were made by Maria Poptsova, Head of the Laboratory of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Dmitry Sychev, Rector of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education, Dmitry Zateishchikov, Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Department of Therapy of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Additional Professional Education “Central State Medical Academy”, Presidential Administration of the President of Russian Federation.

The forum addressed the issues of the current state of cardiogenetics and bioinformatics in Russia and abroad, in particular, the ways in which knowledge about variations in the genome can help physicians in their practice. Specific examples were presented on how the possession of information about a patient's genome can help make decisions in clinical practice. Special interest was aroused by the round table "Hereditary forms of early atherosclerosis", in particular the report of A.A. Rogozhina "Detection of hereditary lipid metabolism disorders in patients with early manifestation of diseases associated with atherosclerosis".

In addition, pulmonary hypertension was discussed at the round table "Pulmonary Hypertension". The report "Pulmonary hypertension as an interdisciplinary problem. Experience of single-center registry" was presented by Dankovtseva E.N., and a researcher of the international bioinformatics laboratory Brovkina O.I. "Results of bioinformatic processing of targeted sequencing of pulmonary hypertension patients of different groups".

Problems related to the effects of anticoagulants were actively discussed, and the need for knowledge of genetics to prescribe the correct dose of commonly used anticoagulants after strokes and heart attacks and, currently, in the treatment of covid was emphasized.

Dmitry Sychev in his report "Pharmacogenetic research at RMANPO. Recent results and prospects" presented the results and prospects of cooperation between bionformaticians of NRU HSE and clinical pharmacologists of RMANPO in the field of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics of drugs.

The forum ended with a discussion of the consortium's pilot projects. The consortium participants planned to hold the next interdisciplinary forum "Cardiogenetics and Bioinformatics: Realities of 2023" next year.
