IT Lecture Centre at the Faculty of Computer Science Opens with a Lecture by Facebook Representatives

On October 27th, 2014, Facebook developers spoke at the Higher School of Economics about data storage on this particular social network. Their lecture was the first in a series of events to be held in the new IT Lecture Centre at the Faculty of Computer Science.

The Facebook team, who came over from the USA, introduced students to the technical side of the most popular social network in the world.

Alexey Maikov, Facebook development engineer, spoke about the existing systems of data storage and processing, about what happens in the system when a public figure’s page is viewed, about connections between social network users, about Facebook’s plans and other fascinating things.

Guests of the Faculty of Computer Science also included the company’s development engineers Vladislav Isenbaev, Roman Chadnov, Yamanouchi Owen Daiki, and Marina Mavrina, who specialises in working with students.

Students who asked the most interesting questions got T-shirts with the Facebook logo, and all participants got some souvenirs.

The IT Lecture Centre hosts open lectures at the Faculty of Computer Science, where company representatives and experts from research centres discuss current technology developments.
