Two Teams from the Faculty of Computer Science Passed to ACM ICPC Semifinal

On October 26th, 2014, a quarterfinal of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) 2014-2015 took place at the Moscow State University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Two teams from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science took 7th and 11th places and passed through to the contest’s semifinal.

A total of more than 250 teams from Moscow and Moscow region participated in the quarterfinal.

The Faculty’s teams have been preparing for the championship since September at the Student Contest Centre led by Mikhail Gustokashin.

The participants of the Faculty of Computer Science teams that got through to the ACM ICPC semifinal:

  • 7th place: Aidar Sairanov (1st year), Yury Mokry (1st year), Ivan Trofimov (1st year)
  • 11th place: Andrey Kolosov (1st year master’s), Kirill Samelyuk (1st year master’s), Timur Iskhakov (1st year)

The semifinal will take place in December 2014 in St. Petersburg.

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the largest student team contest in programming. Participants must be university students with less than five years of university education before the contest. Teams from Russia have won the contest several times.

In 2014, graduates of the HSE Joint Department with Yandex won bronze at the World Final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest.
