The Faculty of Computer Science was created with the goal of becoming one of the world’s leading faculties for developers and researchers in data analysis, machine learning, big data, theoretical computer science, bioinformatics, system and software engineering, system programming, and distributed computing. In cooperation with major companies like Yandex, Sberbank, SAS, Samsung, 1C, and many others, the Faculty provides both deep theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience in many branches of contemporary computer science.
On December 4-5, the Faculty of Computer Science hosted a Machine Learning Bootcamp to prepare the participants for ML competitions, including the IDAO 2022 International Data Analytics Olympiad.
ML Bootcamp lasted for two days, during which participants improved their knowledge in machine learning, gained practical skills and learned about basic deep learning tools. The event was aimed at undergraduate and graduate students starting their journey in machine learning. Participation was free of charge. Students from more than 70 countries participated in the Bootcamp, we received a total of 623 registrations. Most participants were from Russia, Bangladesh, India, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan and the USA.
The Bootcamp covered topics from machine learning algorithms and their non-classical applications to deep learning.
The event also included a machine learning competition on the Kaggle platform. The task was devoted to predicting insomnia based on vitals such as health and lifestyle data. The winners were the following teams and participants:
1. Evgeny Skripichnikov (Belarus)
2. Salil Gautam (India)
3. MSU&HSE (Russia)
