Semyon Savkin, a graduate of Moscow School No. 57 and student of HSE University’s Bachelor's Programme in Applied Mathematics and Information, has won gold in theInternational Olympiad in Informatics individual all-around among school students from 87 countries. In the unofficial team race, Russia shares second place with USA and Iran.

On June 23, the HSE Business Incubator will launch a new acceleration programme for business projects at the pre-seed stage (taking them from the prototype to their first sales). Start-ups developed by HSE University students and staff can participate in the programme for free.
Mass online learning is suddenly a necessity that nearly all teachers in Russia have to come to grips with. There is no escaping working online, so we have to act quickly, select the necessary tools, and start teaching remotely.
How do scientists steer satellites and remotely probe our planet’s surface? Researchers from HSE and other universities discussed questions such as this with students from 36 participating Moscow high schools as part of the city government’s Moscow School IT-Classes project. Eight educational partners, including HSE and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, are participating in the project, which aims to familiarize students with careers in IT.
At last week’s Golden HSE Award Ceremony, the winners of the Silver Nestling Award included two international students: Yunying Pei (China) of the Dual Bachelor’s Programme in Data Science and Business Analytics, and Juan Sota (Spain) of the Master’s Programme in Medieval Studies. On November 27, the HSE University held its 18th annual Golden HSE Award Ceremony in honour of colleagues who have demonstrated excellence in research or have contributed in a meaningful way to the HSE community. The special occasion coincided with the university’s 27th anniversary.
HSE University has recently hosted an SAS Data Hack Platypus data analysis hackathon, where teams competed to solve a case problem provided by the online hypermarket, Utkonos (or, in English, ‘Platypus’).The top five finalists received devices from partner companies as gifts.
