HSE has teamed up with the University of California at San Diego (ranked 14th on the ARWU ranking, 41st on THE, and 59th on QS) to launch the new Data Structures and Algorithms specialization on Coursera. The specialization is taught completely in English and consists of five interrelated courses. Registration is open until March 7.

Bruno Bauwens, an expert in Kolmogorov complexity, is a new recruit at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. He started in September 2015. Bruno received his PhD from Ghent University in Belgium, after which he held postdoctoral fellowships at Porto University (Portugal), as well as at the University of Montpellier and University of Lorraine.
The Summer School on Machine Learning in High Energy Physics, which was co-organised by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and Russian internet company Yandex, has ended. Below, the Head of HSE's Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis, Andrey Ustyuzhanin, talks about the various ways in which physicists and programmers cooperate. He also discusses how researchers from HSE and Yandex have been participating in CERN experiments and how ordinary smartphone users can help unravel the secrets of the universe.
he Faculty of Computer Science is only one year old – it was founded March 28, 2014 – but it already has a rich history and ambitious plans. This new 'big faculty’ brings together the departments of applied mathematics and informatics, of software engineering, and Yandex’s department, which were previously part of the Faculty of Business Informatics. The restructured faculty now consists of the School of Software Engineering, the School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Big Data and Information Retrieval, and the Department of Technologies for Complex System Modelling.
The HSE Faculty of Computer Science, where international specialists teach alongside Russian professors and one Master’s programme in System and Software Engineering is taught entirely in English, has launched a public colloquium.
