Dean of HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science Ivan Arzhantsev, head of the faculty’s Big Data and Information Retrieval School Evgeny Sokolov, and junior researcher at the faculty Gleb Bazhenov took part in the China–Russia Seminar on AI Talent Education and Technology Development in Beijing (PRC). The meeting organised by Yandex was aimed at discussing cooperation between leading Russian universities and China’s Tsinghua University. The university is among the world’s best, ranking first in Asia and 12^th in the world in the international Times Higher Education rating.

Delegations from Nanjing University and Renmin (People's) University of China have recently made their first visits to HSE University to explore potential areas of cooperation. The Chinese universities have expressed interest in initiating collaborative research projects, educational and academic mobility programmes.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals took place on November 6–11 in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The team from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) took ninth place, winning bronze and achieving the best result among Russian universities.

In early September, the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science hosted the international conference Computer Methods of Cognitome Analysis. The event was organised by the International Laboratory of Algebraic Topology and Its Applications at the faculty.

In June, a delegation from the FCS and HSE MIEM visited Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, to present student start-ups to the IT community. The trip was organised as part of a programme to develop entrepreneurship among undergraduate and doctoral students of the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science.

From February 14–18, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science organised its first international winter school dedicated to software engineering. The event was supported by JetBrains, Innopolis University, and Schaffhausen Institute of Technology.

Ten universities and institutes have announced a partnership to construct an electron-positron collider in order to study the production and properties of charmed particles and tau leptons. The new experiment will be part of the Super C-Tau Factory project. It was founded by two international teams and eight from Russia, including HSE University.
