The English-taught Master's programme ‘Master of Data Science’ run by theHSE Faculty of Computer Science and its industrial partner, Yandex, brings together students from more than 30 countries. The programme is implemented completely online. Among the graduates of the second intake of the programme are Calvin Tee from Singapore and Lyubov Sharaborina from Moscow, Russia.

HSE's Faculty of Computer Science and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology have held the Mathematics of Machine Learning Olympiad for the fifth time. The participants competed for prizes and the opportunity to matriculate at two universities without exams by enrolling in the HSE and Skoltech joint master's programme in Math of Machine Learning.

HSE University continues to develop its new study format for students embarking on a research career: the Combined Master's-PhD track. This year, there will be 75 places for Master’s students on the track—two thirds more than last year. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin talks about the appeal of the combined-track option, how to enrol, and the achievements of last year’s applicants.

HSE University’s online Master of Data Science programme trains specialists in contemporary data analysis, machine learning development, and research. The applications are accepted until July 19. Students of the programme hail from over 30 countries including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, and Switzerland. The AMC Makeathon is an annual makeathon from the American Center in Moscow (AMC). This year it was held online and focused on ecology, environmental literacy, and the green economy. First and second places went to student teams from HSE University. The News Service talked to representatives of the teams about the solutions they came up with.

HSE Faculty of Computer Science offers eight Master’s programmes, including four programmes taught entirely in English. Samia Nasrin, from Data Science Master’s programme, and Usama Albaghdady, from Master’s in System and Software Engineering, talk about choosing HSE University, admissions process, their studies and future plans.

This year HSE University is admitting applicants to nine practice-oriented Master's programmes in sought-after specialities in IT, management, economics, and finance. On March 13 and 14, 2021 at HSE’s Open Day for Master’s programmes, academic supervisors and representatives of partner companies described the features of these programmes.

As a student of the first cohort of the HSE Master of Data Science online programme, Alexey Babenkov not only gained new knowledge but also used that knowledge to find a new job.  He told HSE News Service how his online studies are organised, described the advantages of remote learning and explained which courses are especially useful.

The HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) and Yandex held the Online Final of the IDAO-2020 International Data Analysis Olympiad, which took place for the third time. The task for the final round was provided by QIWI, the platinum partner of the event. Sberbank also became a competition partner.

The students of the second cohort in HSE University’s Master of Data Science have started their classes. This English-taught programme is offered entirely online on Coursera and is the first of its kind in Russia.
