The coronavirus pandemic has changed every aspect of our life. Cities and towns around the globe are quarantined, borders closed, air traffic halted. Nevertheless, schools and universities keep working, albeit online. Here are the personal stories of two students caught up in the midst of their academic mobility and a German intern locked in Moscow.

From March 17, HSE University has made all classes online. Here’s how the Faculty was able to do that, as well as celebrate Faculty’s birthday, talk to prospective students, and develop a new YouTube channel. 

The second meeting of the Board of Trustees of the HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science took place on March 12. Elena Bunina, Deputy Chair of the Board, CEO of Yandex, presided over the meeting.

Moscow International School of Physics took place from 3 to 9 March in the HSE Study Centre Voronovo.

According to the QS World University Rankings, Russian universities come highly rated, with HSE University rising by 50 positions. It is now in 151 – 200 group of Computer Science & Information Systems ranking and in 401 – 450 group of Engineering and Technology ranking.

The Online Stage of International Data Analysis Olympiad (IDAO 2020) has finished. IDAO 2020 is a traditional machine learning contest organized on the Yandex.Contest platform. It is organized for the 3rd time and this year it brings 2756 participants from 83 countries.

The Faculty of Computer Science is accepting international applications for Associate Professor positions for the academic year 2020-2021. Vacancies are for full-time employment under a contract that is subject to extension.

The Fifth Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit took place in Manila, the Philippines, from November 26th – 30th, 2019. The President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, met with the participants of this international event, which was organized by the National Youth Committee with the support of the MGIMO ASEAN Centre. Vladislav Belovitsky, first-year student of Software Engineering at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, attended the event as part of the Russian delegation, through winning an English-language essay competition.

Ilya Sobakinskikh – "HSE and University of London Double Degree Programme in Data Science and Business Analytics" student, has received a scholarship and attended the LSE summer school in July-August this year. We talked with Ilya and he told us about his trip to London.
