HSE University took 298th place in the 2021 QS World University Rankings, improving its ranking by 24 positions compared to last year and entering the first quartile of the world’s leading universities. HSE University now ranks among the world’s top 300 universities in two international rankings: the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
HSE University offers 104 online courses on Coursera and 100 courses on the Open Education platform. On Coursera, HSE University is the leading Russian university in terms of its number of course offerings. Since HSE University joined Coursera, it has had 2.5 million enrolments.
Denis Shilov, a second-year student of the HSE and University of London double degree bachelor’s programme in Data Science and Business Analytics, has developed Reface, a neuro interface that is able to control your smartphone by reading your facial expressions. He spoke with the HSE News Service about software development and the future of his project.
This prize is annually awarded to doctoral students, researchers and professionals from Moscow-based institutions, as well as people with Candidate or Doctor of Sciences degrees. This year 1500 participants from 100 countries took part in the Junction International Hackathon. At last week’s Golden HSE Award Ceremony, the winners of the Silver Nestling Award included two international students: Yunying Pei (China) of the Dual Bachelor’s Programme in Data Science and Business Analytics, and Juan Sota (Spain) of the Master’s Programme in Medieval Studies. Students from both HSE Moscow and HSE St. Petersburg have made it to the finals of the ICPC-2020 World Programming Championship. They were among the best teams at the semi-finals stage of the championship, which took place last weekend in St. Petersburg.
On November 27, the HSE University held its 18th annual Golden HSE Award Ceremony in honour of colleagues who have demonstrated excellence in research or have contributed in a meaningful way to the HSE community. The special occasion coincided with the university’s 27th anniversary.
Approximately 200 teams (764 participants) gathered at Hack.Moscow v3.0, an annual hackathon that was held for the third year in a row from October 25 to 27. The winners shared 1 million roubles from sponsors and had the opportunity to earn preferential admission to master's programmes at HSE, the hackathon’s partner university.
