The ‘Data Science and Business Analytics’ bachelor’s programme at HSE Faculty of Computer Science has received professional and public accreditation by the AI Alliance Russia. This is the third programme of the faculty that has received accreditation from the AI Alliance Russia, following the bachelor's programme in ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ and the master’s programme in ‘Financial Technologies and Data Analysis’.
Innopolis University has announced the results of Global Al Challenge, an international AI industry online hackathon in which teams of developers compete to create new materials using artificial intelligence. The DrugANNs team, which included students from the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science, took third place.
From February 14–18, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science organised its first international winter school dedicated to software engineering. The event was supported by JetBrains, Innopolis University, and Schaffhausen Institute of Technology.

A new Digital Literacy course created as part of the university-wide Data Culture project has been launched on Coursera. The syllabus includes ten modules developed by experts in relevant fields. Eleven authors worked on this English-taught course.
HSE University continues to develop its new study format for students embarking on a research career: the Combined Master's-PhD track. This year, there will be 75 places for Master’s students on the track—two thirds more than last year. HSE University will enhance its programmes in Software Engineering implemented by the Faculty of Computer Science together with the RAS Institute for System Programming (ISP RAS) and the company, 1C. The focus will be on the study of cutting-edge technology of software development as well as on expanding the number of various specializations.
Four students of the HSE University and University of London Double Degree Programme in Data Science and Business Analytics received the highest scores on London exams at the end of 2019/2020 academic year. Yunying Pei, Vasily Kireenko, Vladimir Zobov, and Ilya Zisman performed brilliantly in the statistics, business, and management tests.
Professor Oleg Melnikov is among the international professors invited to work remotely with HSE University’s students this academic year. He lives in California, runs the Data Science department at a company in Palo Alto, and teaches at Stanford and other universities in the United States. At HSE University he teaches a course on machine learning for the students of the Faculty of Computer Science and the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF), as well as a university-wide optional course, ‘Machine Learning in Python’. He spoke about his work in an interview with the HSE News Service.
