Three bachelor’s students from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science programme in ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ recently participated in the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC), winning two first prizes and a second prize.

Researchers at the HSE Artificial Intelligence Centre have created software for predicting the location of elements of the human genome. The scientists used deep learning methods based on complex data on various human molecular components. The research followed the objectives of the ‘Artificial Intelligence’ federal project of the ‘Digital Economy’ national project.
At the beginning of July, a summer school on software engineering was held at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. This is the successor to the school on mobile applications development, which was held at the FCS from 2015 to 2022. HSE University’s early-career researchers are receiving grants for research projects in economics, psychology, sociology, political science, law, mathematics, information science, optics, engineering, and ocean studies.
A joint department with the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences has opened at the Faculty of Computer Science (FCS). Leading mathematicians from the Steklov Institute will be involved in the department’s operations. The partnership aims to leverage the educational and research potential of the two institutions to train highly qualified specialists.
Financial Technologies and Data Analysis (FinTech), a joint Master’s programme from HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Sberbank, will have its fifth graduation this summer. The programme opened in 2017 and has become a major educational project for both the university and Sberbank. Students, partners, and teachers of FinTech explained what the programme is and why it is worth enrolling in.
