The research of Tatiana Stankevich, a student of the Master of Data Science programme, was voted best in its field at the Lomonosov Conference. Tatiana told us about her participation in the conference and what a “zombie fire” is.

The Faculty of Computer Science at HSE University, Yandex, and this year’s platinum partner, Otkritie Bank, held the International Data Analysis Olympiad (IDAO) for the fourth time.  This year’s first-place winner was the ‘random team’, Ilya Kornakov and Kirill Borozdin, from Switzerland. Second and third places went to the Russian teams ‘Mylene Farmer’ (Vasiliy Rubtsov, Anvar Kurmukov) and ‘Shizika’ (Dmitry Simakov, Nikita Churkin).

The winners of the Ilya Segalovich Scholarship were announced recently. We talked to them about the award, their studies and their projects. 

HSE Faculty of Computer Science offers eight Master’s programmes, including four programmes taught entirely in English. Samia Nasrin, from Data Science Master’s programme, and Usama Albaghdady, from Master’s in System and Software Engineering, talk about choosing HSE University, admissions process, their studies and future plans.

Elsevier (operated by Scopus) has awarded its prestigious Research Excellence Award since 2005. This year, it celebrates the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. On March 30, Elsevier awarded the winning scholars, which included Maxim Kotsemir, Research Fellow at the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, and Dmitry Vetrov, Professor at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science.
